For the practice of coming home to your body that’s carried you this far.
These photos are always FOR you. Not against you or happening to you. We're not taking them, we're making them. We move and flow with our bodies, our emotions, our needs. When you first see your gallery, I want you to remember how you felt during this experience and that you were safe, and taking good care. Photos are a moment in time, but this process isn't static and neither are you.
Here is what I want you to know about this experience:
Choosing the experience of joy, pleasure or peace in our body is a practice and one not always supported by the influences around us. It doesn't happen the way we think it will, the way we see others do it or by pure chance.
We choose it when we are ready, when we have invited in the support that we need, when we have drawn the boundaries around what we will and will not tolerate in our lives. We choose the protection and safety we can give our body when we are able to. We choose what's spoken around us, what we consume, and even if it feels like tiny tiny steps towards more peace and acceptance within the home that carries us around, it feels worth the perseverance. It's hard and very beautiful and sometimes very heartbreaking and it's very important that we do it.

Our own acceptance only creates the space for more acceptance and love within our own sphere of influence.

“…I have to admit when I first saw my set that she so beautifully crafted, I was hit with a wave of emotion. I was surprised that from moments when I felt such power and peace, how could it lead to my first thought being when I finally saw the images, ‘do I really look like that’? I jumped straight to judging my body because I wasn’t where I wanted to be when it comes to loving her as she is. It’s a never-ending journey I’m sure. Now looking back, some of my favorite images are the ones where Michaela guided me to incorporate movement in some way, the ones I’m not focused on hiding my insecurities- and I remember feeling so free.”

"I went into my shoot not knowing what to expect. Feeling insecure and wondering how it was going to go.. let me just say that I have ZERO regrets. I cannot thank Michaela enough for her pure talent, and her ability to make a girl feel like a goddess."
Raquel
"Michaela is wonderful to work with! As someone who is not very comfortable in front of a camera, she made me feel confident and beautiful. I would highly recommend her services!"
Brittany
"Working with Michaela was one of the most empowering things I have ever done! I have struggled a long time with how I look in my own skin and I have never felt more beautiful or confident than I did during my session!"
Tonya
"Michaela's work is not only beautiful, but emotional. She captures each moment with the credit it deserves and does not try to alter the moment. Her photos are filled with love, compassion, and honesty. They are rich, deep and beautiful. I cannot get enough of her black and whites. She is a fantastic person to work with and I highly recommend her."
